Mahindra XUV 3XO Launched in Australia
Mahindra Automotive has officially launched the India-made XUV 3XO in Australia. This subcompact SUV is available in two variants – AX5L and AX7L, both equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The drive-away prices start at AUD 23,490 (approximately ₹13.18 lakh) for the AX5L and go up to AUD 26,490 (₹14.87 lakh) for the AX7L.
These prices include all on-road costs such as registration and taxes and are valid till 31st August 2025. After that, both variants will see a price increase of AUD 500.
Powertrain and Transmission
Unlike the Indian version, which comes with multiple engine options, the Australian-spec XUV 3XO is available with only one powertrain: a 1.2-litre mStallion turbocharged MPFi (TCMPFi) petrol engine.
This unit produces 110 hp and 200 Nm of torque and is paired exclusively with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There is no manual option for the Australian market.
Trims and Features
Both AX5L and AX7L variants come generously equipped.
Standard features across both trims include a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, electrically foldable ORVMs, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and auto headlamps.
The top-spec AX7L trim adds a host of premium features such as:
- Panoramic sunroof (Skyroof)
- Black leatherette upholstery
- Soft-touch leatherette dashboard and door panels
- 7-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system
- 360° surround view camera with blind-view monitor
- Cooled glove box
- 65W USB Type-C fast charging port
ADAS and Safety
Safety is a high priority in the Australian market, and Mahindra has addressed this by offering ADAS features as standard on both variants.
These include:
- Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) – mandatory in Australia
- Forward Collision Warning
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Traffic Sign Recognition
While the XUV 3XO has already secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating in India, it has not yet been tested by the Australasian NCAP (ANCAP).
Mahindra intends to submit the SUV for assessment under the upcoming 2026 ANCAP protocols, which will evaluate crash safety, driver monitoring, and autonomous braking.
ANCAP may also conduct an independent assessment before that.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
Visually, the Australian XUV 3XO remains identical to its Indian counterpart.
Key exterior highlights include:
- C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs)
- Bold front grille
- Infinity LED tail lamps
- The AX5L trim rides on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the AX7L gets larger 17-inch alloy wheels.

Mahindra is offering a variety of paint schemes for Australian buyers.
AX5L variant colour choices:
- Everest White
- Galaxy Grey
- Stealth Black
- Tango Red
AX7L variant colour choices:

Pricing and Market Positioning
At AUD 23,490, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs in the Australian market.
When compared to rivals, it undercuts many established names:
- Chery Tiggo 4 (Urban) – AUD 23,990
- MG ZS – AUD 25,990
- Hyundai Venue (Auto) – AUD 27,990
- Kia Stonic (Auto) – AUD 28,290
The XUV 3XO is being exported to Australia as a fully built unit (CBU).
In India, the SUV is priced between ₹7.99 lakh and ₹15.79 lakh.
Mahindra is also developing an electric version of the XUV 3XO, expected to launch around the festive season of 2025.
This EV will effectively replace the existing XUV400 in Mahindra’s lineup.
