Apple Set to Launch iPhone 17 Series: New Features, Design Changes & Likely Price Hike
Apple is expected to unveil four new models in its iPhone 17 lineup, which includes:
- iPhone 17 (Standard Model)
- iPhone 17 Air (Newly introduced mid-tier variant)
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max (Top-tier model)
According to industry reports and tech analyst David Phelan the official launch may happen on September 9, 2025, although Apple has yet to confirm the date.
Expected Features Across All Models:
ProMotion Displays Across the Lineup
For the first time, all four models are expected to feature ProMotion technology, offering refresh rates up to 120Hz. Previously, this smooth scrolling and video enhancement feature was reserved only for Pro models.
Improved Front Camera
All variants are rumored to come with a 24MP front camera, a significant upgrade from the 12MP found in the iPhone 16 series. This means sharper selfies and better image cropping.
Camera Upgrades (Especially for Pro Max):
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is tipped to feature:
Three 48MP rear cameras: Wide, Ultra-Wide, and a Tetraprism Telephoto lens.
Potential support for 8K video recording, making it a first for iPhones.
Redesigned Build: Aluminum for All
Apple is expected to adopt aluminum frames across the entire iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max.
This marks a shift from the stainless steel or titanium typically seen in Pro models.
It could signal a lighter and more durable build, while simplifying material use across models.
Expected Pricing:
Model Expected Price (USD) –
iPhone 17 ~$799 Entry-level model
iPhone 17 Air ~$899 Mid-range option; replaces 16 Plus
iPhone 17 Pro ~$999+ Premium model
iPhone 17 Pro Max Likely higher Flagship with top specs
Apple may increase overall pricing due to rising component costs and tariffs. However, instead of citing external economic factors, the company is expected to justify price hikes through added features and design improvements.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup is shaping up to be its most feature-rich yet, with high-refresh displays, upgraded cameras, and a new aluminum design across all variants.
The addition of the iPhone 17 Air introduces a new mid-tier option, while Pro users may see breakthrough imaging features like three 48MP lenses and 8K recording. Pricing may rise, but Apple is expected to emphasize innovation rather than cost as the reason.
