Kia has officially launched its first made-in-India electric vehicle, the Carens Clavis EV, which is now the most affordable 7-seater electric car in the Indian market.
With prices starting at Rs. 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Carens Clavis EV marks a significant step in Kia’s electric vehicle strategy in India.
The car is available in four variants: HTK+, HTX, HTX (Extended Range), and HTX+ (Extended Range). Deliveries are expected to commence soon.

The ex-showroom pricing for the Kia Carens Clavis EV across its four variants is as follows:
- HTK+ Standard – Rs. 17.99 lakh
- HTX Standard – Rs. 20.49 lakh
- HTX Extended Range – Rs. 22.49 lakh
- HTX+ Extended Range – Rs. 24.49 lakh
On-road prices vary slightly across major cities, ranging around Rs. 19.08 lakh to Rs. 19.27 lakh, depending on location.
Battery Options and Range
The Carens Clavis EV is offered with two battery pack options:
42kWh battery – Delivers an ARAI-certified range of 404 km on a single charge
51.4kWh battery – Offers an extended ARAI-certified range of 490 km
Both variants support fast charging, with the battery capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes using a 100kW DC fast charger.
Additionally, the EV supports V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality.
Performance
The performance of the Clavis EV is impressive for its price range.
The 51.4kWh variant is powered by a front-mounted 171 PS / 255 Nm electric motor, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds (claimed).
It also features paddle shifters for adjustable regenerative braking through i-pedal technology.
